Description

Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) respond to medical emergencies and deliver patient care, support, and evaluation in a pre-hospital setting. This generally includes assessing the patient, determining the proper emergency care, and administering treatment. EMTs also help with transporting patients safely between hospitals and care facilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
  • Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
  • Document patient information, condition, and treatment
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
  • Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients
  • Operate and drive ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
  • Provide basic life support and gather patient data.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong sense of professionalism.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology systems.
  • Write simple correspondence or reports
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees and/or managers
  • Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow written or verbal step-by-step instructions
  • Ability to concentrate, think, and learn
  • Ability to hear, see, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Current EMT certification/license in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of practice
  • 1 year of experience in an emergency care setting preferred
