Carla first began her dance training in Tampa Bay before moving to New York City where she graduated from the Juilliard School in 1993 with a BFA in Dance.  While there, she studied with several highly regarded teachers in dance, including Benjamin Harkarvy, Ethel Winter, Carolyn Adams, Linda Kent, Hector Zaraspe, and Anna Sokolow and performed works by Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Jose Limon, Doris Humphrey, and Mark Morris, including Diversion of Angels, Esplanade, Tensile Involvement, Missa Brevis, Rooms and the role of Mother in Day on Earth.  After graduating, Carla toured the country for 8 years with Avodah Dance Ensemble and Omego Dance Company as a performer and teacher of modern dance.  Her training has included intensive study of the Graham, Limon and Horton techniques, and she enjoys bringing her knowledge of all of these to her NTDT students.  She joined the faculty of New Tampa Dance Theatre in 2005 and has been the Modern Director since 2011.
